Balik (Raya) Kampung Tips!

Assalamualikum Guys! Few more days till Hari Raya (Eid) kan, how’s your preparation? All set to balik kampung
This year I’ll be going back to my husband’s hometown in Johor and yep its my first time celebrating the first day of Raya there AND my first time celebrating in a kampung environment. Nervous baq ang ni. Millions of questions in my mind, what should I do next? What should I not do? Ha tidur reramai kat hall? Kang aku snore cemana?! aaaaand banyak lagi persoalan in my mind. Dramatic? Yes. Mengada? Err probably. But hey it is my first time. Cut me some slack, no? All my life my Raya has been in KL (boring, I know), pusing Gombak/PJ tu je. Never slept over at my granddad’s house before Raya so I don’t quite know the Raya “routine”.
Oh quick fact. All my life I’ve been dreaming I will marry someone who has a kampung to go back to so that I could experience the balik kampung traffic, tidur reramai kat hall and etc. Ha kan sekarang dah termakbul doa hehe. So yes, I am not gonna lie and say I am not nervous nor scared. I am TERRIFIED. Told SS that and he laughed. Thanks dude. So not helping this fella sheeesh
Anyway, earlier today my uncle gave this interesting long text in our family Whatsapp group and it was such a perfect timing to receive these tips/advices. Hopefully these tips will help ease the nervousness for those who are in the same boat as me, amin. Hehe. There are 10 tips but hey do help your girl right here with any other extra tips that you might hold on to whenever you’re back at your in-laws etc. Please? TIA guyssssss.
Ok the 10 tips are:-

1. First and foremost, husbands please inform your wives awal-awal whats the “budaya/amalan/kebiasaan” family nak sambut Raya, so that the wives ni boleh la get ready awal-awal. Takdelah dia kena gelak nanti kan….
2. Bawak balik iron sendiri so that tak berebut nanti. If muat bonet kereta tu, angkut iron board sekali.
3. Rumah kat kampung kadang x ada aircond, kipas terhad, so bawa balik 1 kipas sendiri.
4. Bawak balik extension cable, taklah berebut nak charge phone, nak iron, nak blender, dll.
5. If necessary, bawak ha tilam @ toto tu.
6. Boleh tidur lewat malam raya kang tapi jangan sampai terlepas solat di pagi raya ye.
7. Jangan selalu terperap dalam bilik. Ini biasa hobi (wooooops) menantu perempuan. Ringan-ringankan tulang tolong kat dapur tu. Time raya ni lah nak kenal saudara mara, ye dak?
8. Kalau ada lebihan rezeki, tolong beli barang-barang dapur. Paling koman ‘kordial sunquick’ pun kira dah soleh tu.
9. Jangan mudah terasa dengan tutur kata adik beradik, ipar duai. Belajar berlapang dada. Sabarruddin.
I hope so man. Good luck to all first-timers and may this Raya brings us new experiences that we’ll cherish forever. Dah jangan sedih-sedih tak dapat beraya dengan parents sendiri, Raya ke-2 nanti kan dah balik rumah ibu ayah. Hehe.

Salam Aidilfitri to all, maaf zahir dan batin. Drive safe everyone. Enjoy your lodeh, lemang, ketupat and more!
Lots of love,

and family.
